City-States
During the Renaissance, Italy was split into multiple city-states. These city-states were Venice, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, and Papal States. The ones that will be discussed in this section are Venice, Florence, and Genoa. Each city-state had their own government and their own economy. The economies ranged from trade to manufacturing, each each economy was better than the last. The map below shows where each city-state is in Italy.
